Windows Vista: Simple Ways to improve its performance

For all the Windows Vista users, we have something you shall relish. We have enlisted 5 ways of enhancing your Windows Vista performance.


1) Run start up Delayer: a third party tool, Start up delayer can be used to set start up of programs at intervals of one minute.

2) Enhance SATA Disk Performance: Steps -

a) Click on Start →type in Device Manager in search box → Hit Enter.
b) Click on +next to Disk Drives.
c) Right click on hard drive and select properties.
d) Select policies tab → check enable enhance performance.
e) Click on ok → close Device Manager.


3) Speed up External Hard Drives: Steps -

a) Click on start → Device Manager in search box → enter.
b) Click on +next to disk drives.
c) Right click on External hard Drive → properties → policies tab → select Optimize for Performance.
d) Check Enable write caching on disk and Enable Advanced Performance.


4) Move Page file to different Physical Drives: Steps -

a) Press start → right click on computer → properties.
b) In the left pane select advanced system settings.
c) Click on Advanced tab and under performance select settings.
d) Click on Advanced tab and under virtual memory select change.
e) Uncheck – Automatically manage paging file Size for all Drives.
f) Select different physical drive and select system size and press Set.
g) Select the drive that contains paging file select custom size option, set original and maximum size and Set.


5) Disable Superfetch To save Memory: Steps -

a) Press Start →type services in search bar → enter.
b) Locate super fetch in list of services right click and select properties.
c) Change Startup Type dropdown box to disabled and click the stop button → ok.

P.S:

1) We always recommend creating backups before changing your system settings.

2) If you have less than 2GB, we suggest you disable Superfetch.

3) If you turn Enhance SATA Disk Performance setting on and your computer is not connected to a battery backup, losing power increases your risk of data loss or corruption. If you are using a laptop, the chances of this are unlikely as you have a battery in the laptop that will act as a power source if there is an outage.
